“Why Do You Like Writing Letters?”

As someone who struggles to put her thoughts into words and to articulate them verbally, I find comfort in writing. My mind is often flooded with a thousand words, but only my pen seems capable of truly expressing them.

Writing has always been my preferred mode of communication, my cry for help in a world where it’s easy to talk about what you think but far more difficult to express what you feel.

Whenever I find myself in an overwhelming situation, I turn to writing. It’s a cathartic process, one that helps to ease the weight I carry inside.

The act of writing provides a sense of comfort, even in the absence of an immediate response. The simple act of putting my thoughts down on paper allows me to voice my innermost feelings.

Writing letters and giving them to people I care for feels like sharing a piece of myself with them. The process of writing a letter allows me to slow down, to carefully consider my words, and to articulate my feelings in a way that spoken words often fail to capture.

Writing feels like after drowning for so many years, you finally get to be able to see the sunlight filtering through the water’s surface. It’s a liberation from the suffocating weight of unspoken words and buried emotions. Each word on the page is a breath of fresh air.

The feeling of writing — a pen in hand, the feel of the paper, or the fast typing on a keyboard — grounds me. It connects me to my emotions in a way that speaking aloud does not.

My letters are not just words on a page; they are fragments of my soul, expressions of my deepest thoughts and feelings.

So if I write to you, I share a piece of my heart with you.
